" Taking Emotions Out of Emotional Disabilities"
Brief Summary:
Information will be presented to provide actionable insights and practical applications that can enhance decision-making, productivity, and understanding within the field. Attendees will gain a structured perspective, learn evidence-based strategies, and leave with concrete takeaways they can implement immediately in their work.
HR Specific Learning objectives:
1. Participants will be able to differentiate between myths, stereotypes, and evidence-based characteristics of emotional disabilities.
2. Attendees will also be introduced to strategies to eliminate bias in workplace interactions and policies.
3. Attendees will be introduced to concepts on how to remove stigma and misinformation regarding emotional disabilities to foster a more equitable work environment and a more inclusive organizational culture.

Lora Williams

Lora Williams has more than 20 years of experience working with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and with a wide range of disabilities. For the past 12 years, her work has focused extensively on disability across the spectrum, including significant and complex disabilities as well as invisible disabilities.
Her experience includes program oversight related to retaliation, harassment, workplace misconduct, reasonable accommodations, and administrative investigations. Lora has also developed and facilitated training on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), disability and ableism, reasonable accommodations, and creating more inclusive and accessible workplaces.
Lora is a Windmill Certified Trainer and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in 2002. She is currently completing her master’s degree in management and leadership, with anticipated completion in October 2026.
Passionate about helping organizations move beyond compliance, Lora brings a practical, people-centered perspective to workplace inclusion. She is committed to helping organizations create cultures where people with disabilities—and individuals from all backgrounds—are respected, supported, heard, and empowered to thrive.
