SHRM Norman-Moore April 2026 Virtual Meeting

Tuesday, April 14, 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Virtual Meeting

"Beyond Satisfied: What It Really Means to Be Engaged"

Zoom opens at 11:45, Meeting starts at 12:00

Objectives

Understand what employee engagement is and why it matters — Participants will be able to distinguish between engaged, not engaged, and actively disengaged employees, and recognize how manager engagement directly shapes team engagement outcomes.

Understand Gallup's Q12 framework and how it captures what employees need most — Participants will be able to connect each of the 12 engagement elements to a core employee need — from basic expectations to growth opportunities — and recognize how these items surface the voices and experiences of people on their teams.

Commit to at least one concrete action to improve engagement on their team — Participants will leave with a specific, self-directed next step — whether that's having a meaningful one-on-one conversation, auditing their own leadership behaviors, or initiating an action planning process with their team

Presenter:

Shalynne Jackson

Shalynne Jackson serves as the City of Oklahoma City’s first Chief Culture & Engagement Officer. Prior to joining the City of OKC, Shalynne supported strategic equity initiatives for multiple Fortune 500 companies. She has served on several boards and currently serves as Board Chair‑Elect for ReMerge, and contributes to Schnake Turnbo Frank’s I&D Advisory Committee as well as the Junior League of Oklahoma City’s Community Advisory Council.

A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Shalynne holds a Master of Human Relations, serves as an OU adjunct professor, is a Leadership OKC Class 40 alum, and is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).

Shalynne is the proud mother of Hollis and Liam.

Fun fact: She once dreamed of becoming a homicide detective, loves true crime documentaries and podcasts—and is also easily the most scared person in the room. The irony is not lost on her (or anyone who knows her).
