Title:  HR's Role in Crisis Planning and Management

Human Resources plays a critical role in preparing organizations for, responding to, and recovering from crises. This session highlights how HR supports proactive crisis planning through risk assessment, policy development, and clear communication strategies. During a crisis, HR serves as a central point for employee communication, compliance guidance, and workforce support


Bio: 

Teresa Abram is a subject matter expert in crisis planning, management, and communication with extensive experience in public sector, education, and emergency management environments. She has presented for the Oklahoma CareerTech Marketing and Communications Council, the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association, and Leadership Lawton–Fort Sill, and she teaches the FEMA Public Information Officer (PIO) Basics course for the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management.

Teresa serves as Director of Marketing and Communications at Great Plains Technology Center and is a nationally accredited public relations professional and FEMA-certified Master Public Information Officer. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Cameron University and a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming, and is currently pursuing a second master’s in Organizational Leadership through Cameron University’s School of Business. She also serves as an adjunct marketing professor for Cameron University’s School of Business.


Cost: Free for SWOKHR members, $10 for non-members.
